2. I have deleted a very important document, is it possible to restore my document?
More likely yes, if the file has not already been over-written (by another file). As soon as you discover that an important file is deleted, run Recover It Windows Recovery .It is a good idea to avoid disk activity on the particular hard drive where the file should have been. Here are some tips: Do not add or delete files or applications on this drive; Avoid restarting the computer, if possible; Do not invoke a large number of programs concurrently (this causes increased page-swapping activity) Any of these activities might overwrite or partially overwrite a deleted document. Any changes to the files Table will make finding a deleted file more complicated. The more free hard drive space you have on your computer, the greater the chances of a successful recovery are. It is always a good idea to extract to physical or logical hard drive - one that does not contain important deleted files.
3. What factors affect the speed and percentage of data recovery?
The scanning process estimation time may depend on:
- Disk Condition - the more corrupted sectors the hard disk drive has, the slower the read access for particular area is.
- Disk Usage - the less free space your hard disk has the more time it takes to scan it through.
- Data Defragmentation - the less data is fragmented on the disk the faster scan process can collect all information about files and their condition.
4. I deleted a file. How long do I have before data recovery is no longer possible?
It is not possible to predict a time like this in hours or days. Microsoft Windows can overwrite a deleted file immediately if it selects the same data clusters. To maximize recovery chances try not to write anything onto the drive where a deleted file is located before you start using recovery software.
5. Is it possible to recover files that might have been "overwritten" since deletion?
There is no guarantee that the file will not have been overwritten since deletion. File cannot be recovered if it is overwritten.
6. How to minimize time spent on Disk Scan?
There are several operations you can do to minimize the scanning time:
Use faster CPU (central processing unit) for faster searching algorithms processing.
Stop anti-virus software.
Unload all unused application at the moment that may use much operating memory or produce HDD activity, close Windows File Explorer.
Estimated scan time may take from several minutes to a few hours and critically depends on various disk conditions, such as:
- Disk Condition - the more corrupted sectors the hard disk drive has, the slower the read access for particular area is.
- Disk Usage - the less free space your hard disk has the more time it takes to scan it through.
- Data Defragmentation - the less data is fragmented on the disk the faster scan process collects all information about files and their condition.
- Scan Type - selecting certain scan type may affect estimated scan time.
Number of files selected by signature during the scan process will affect estimated scan time significantly. Reduce the amount of files you wish to find and you can get you scan results much faster!
7. What care should be taken for better data recovery?
Do not save data on 'C' drive as some information is always written and deleted on this partition as windows operating system is installed on drive 'C'. Defragment all the drives frequently as the percentage of overwriting becomes lower.
